Tensho Kata

Tensho is a kata with Chinese origins which roughly translated means "Rotating Palm". It was repurposed by Chojun Miyagi (founder of Goju Ryu Style) to become the softer counterpart to the much harder Sanchin Kata.

Tensho encompasses continuous, soft flowing, open handed movements and is performed with deep, timed breathing. Exploring the application of this Kata can greatly benefit a student, opening them up to a more fluid and subtle motion that is often lacking in both the beginner and the overly strong exponent.
